Total War: SHOGUN 2 Win 10 Crash Fix
If you have issues with Total War: Shogun 2. Like crashing when starting up the game, loading into the battle phase or even hanging on the splash screen. Try the following.
1. Restart your pc/laptop or end the process of shogun2.exe in Task Manager.
2. Go into Steam\steamapps\common\Total War SHOGUN 2\redist\ and install/reinstall as administrator
- install_flash_player_11_plugin_32bit.exe
- vcredist_x86.exe
- vcredist_x86_90.exe
- vcredist_x86-sp1.exe
- flashsecurity.exe
- flashsecurity1.exe
- DirectX (go in the folder and run DXSETUP.exe)
3. Right-click the Shogun2.exe in the game's folder (Steam\steamapps\common\Total War SHOGUN 2\)
- Select compatibility - change it to Windows 7
4. Uninstall any of the following antivirus or web advisor programs
- McAfee Web Advisor
- Lavasoft Web Companion
- Symantec Endpoint Protection
Restart your pc and then play.

Chrome addons that block certain sites like McAfee WebAdivsor can block the ingame-online encyclopedia and makes the game crash.
5. Naval crash fix for now
- start the game in Directx 9
6. Splash screen fix (source Total War forums)
open cmd as administrator through the start menu (right-click on Command Prompt in the start menu and start it as Admin) type the following two commands one at a time and press enter
- netsh int ip reset reset.txt
- netsh int ip reset reset.txt
press enter
- netsh winsock reset
- netsh winsock reset
press enter and restart your computer.
